We joined the NARC rally, a small group of offshore experienced yachts, for the trip South. On Monday October 29th, after a two day delay, three of my buddies (John Malloy, John Markey, and Dan Carter) and I left a chilly Newport . We waited in the morning for a cold front to blow through and left late in afternoon riding a strong Northerly towards Bermuda. On Friday night after a true mix of conditions (power reaching at 8 to 12 knots, motoring in calms, and then finally beating to the finish at St David's light) we arrived, tired and thirsty, to a warm welcoming Bermuda. Once cleared in and securely anchored we relaxed while it turned Dark and Stormy... On Saturday, John Malloy (the guys nick named him the Rock: as the waves broke on the boat John's stare would scare the spray to go around him..) flew back to the States, and my high school buddy, John Idler, joined us. In the next two days, John I, Markey, and Dan were all awesome at helping get the boat re-provisioned, re-fueled, re-watered, and repaired.... By Sunday night, we were ready for the next leg: a 900 mile trip to St. Maarten. We relaxed and enjoyed the NARC fish fry hosted by the St George's Dingy Club. We left Bermuda Monday morning Nov 5th. Overall, this leg was uneventful with 15 to 30 on the port beam almost the whole way. That said, the sea state seemed angry. Several wave trains continuously jarred the boat, and as we got further south the atmosphere became more unstable with squalls and lighting a constant issue. On Sunday, November 11th, six days after leaving Bermuda we arrived in St. Maarten, tied up at the Simpson Bay Marina, and quickly cleared customs. Palm trees, a warm tropical breeze, and the stable ground all felt great! A BIG thanks to John Malloy, John Idler, John Markey, and Dan Carter! Pegasus is now sitting at the dock patiently waiting for our family's arrival on Dec 31st.

hi alson, its me, nikisha
hope you have a great trip! our friends all miss you!
Glad to see “old” friends back out cruising! Kevin is planning to do the same thing when the kids are a little older. Right now Charlie is 7, Claire is 5 and Caleb is just 3. They will likely go to the Sea of Cortez first and then decide about a Pacific crossing if all goes well and everyone’s having fun. We’ll let him know about your new adventure. He’ll be jealous!
Hello Pegasus! So happy to hear the news of your new sailing adventures with the kids! We will definitely keep an eye on your website and follow your adventure! Congratulations on planning your escape. Happy New Year!
Awesome....looking forward to following your journey..
This is great
